Ingredients

  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 1 lb chicken, beef, or lamb, cut into strips
  • 2 tablespoons shawarma spice mix
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup bell peppers, sliced
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • Fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a large pot, heat oil over medium heat and sauté the onion and garlic until fragrant.
  3. Add the meat and shawarma spice mix, cooking until the meat is browned.
  4. Stir in the rice and toast for about 2 minutes.
  5. Add chicken broth and salt, bringing the mixture to a boil.
  6. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer until the rice is cooked and liquid is absorbed, about 15-20 minutes.
